The only monument to Brühl in Saxony can be found in Seifersdorf, north-east of Dresden. Tina von Brühl dedicated it to her father-in-law, whom she never met, in 1782. Seifersdorf and the Seifersdorf valley remained in the hands of the von Brühl family until 1945.
The Förderverein Seifersdorfer Schloss e. V. applied to the Freundeskreis Schlösserland Sachsen with its project proposal. This association supports palaces in state, municipal and private ownership and has links to many local support associations.
The Freundeskreis Schlösserland Sachsen was able to win the painter and sculptor Christoph Wetzel for the artistic design of the commemorative plaque. Born in 1947, he first studied sculpture at Berlin-Weissensee Art Academy, and then fine art at Dresden University of Fine Arts.
In consultation with the Freundeskreis Schlösserland Sachsen and the donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, Christoph Wetzel created two designs: one for a memorial plaque to Count Heinrich von Brühl with a portrait of the eminent prime minister, and the other for a bronze plaque referring to the former Brühl Palace.
The bronze plaque is in landscape format and commemorates the Brühl Palace, an important building in Dresden's city centre, which was demolished in 1900 to build the Ständehaus on the same site. Count Heinrich von Brühl had the building constructed for himself, and extended it several times.
